Organize Your Office with the DYMO LabelManager 260P

Everybody knows that an organizer’s best friend is her labeler, but these handy little gadgets aren’t just useful at home. Use a labeler to organize your office so that everyone can be more productive and organized:

1. Label the folders you keep in your desktop organizer for quick access. Depending on your work, you might label them by category, project, people or urgency.

2. Rather than handwriting or trying to print labels, simply label the files in your file cabinet with your label maker. As a bonus, they’re easy to peel off and replace as needed!

3. Label the tabs in various binders and notebooks. Create procedural notebooks and reference guides for your office this way.

4. Use your labeler to identify the contents of various file cabinets. You might us alphabetical references (A-E, F-L, etc.), dates or project statuses.

5. Label the shelves, drawers and boxes in your supply room so that everyone knows where certain supplies are kept.

6. Be sure to label office tools (hole punches, scissors, letter openers, etc.) with their owner and/or location so that they don’t mysteriously disappear!

7. Label paint cans by room and/or color for easy reference.

8. Make office-wide forms more accessible by labeling individual folders or slots.

9. Create labels for a mailbox slots in a workroom so that the space looks neater than with handwritten labels.

10. Use labels to identify computer towers, keyboards and other hardware to make sure it’s always returned to the proper location after maintenance.

11. Create notices or instructions with your labeler, i.e. “Please do not turn off this light switch.”

12. Label books and manuals to be sure they’re returned to the proper place.

13. Create “flags” for computer wires and cords.

Dymo LabelManager 260PDYMO sent me one of their handy LabelManager 260P’s to try and I think it’s probably the lightest, easiest-to-hold labeler I’ve ever used! While I love using my labeler to take control of my personal space, I think the benefits are even greater in an office where multiple people are using the same supplies, tools and files and keeping them organized makes it easier for everyone to be more productive!

How do you use a labeler to get organized?

Michael brought home his labeler the other day…he uses it to label computer cable (or whatever other) wires for the Uncorrupted servers. I attempted to use it to print labels for the individual binders I have to hold our sponsored children’s letters. I was bummed because he put in fresh batteries not too long ago…and they are already dead :( How does the 260P do with battery life??

    • Brittany

      Nevermind…it’s rechargeable :)

I bought my label maker in the summer time to label my son’s clothes for camp and now I use it for everything. My filing cabinet has been relabeled, I got plastic labels and I use those for labeling and dating everything that goes into the freezer and I labeled my son’s toy baskets so he knows what should go into each basket so it is no longer a mishmash of items. I’ve gone a little crazy, but at least it’s an organized crazy!

Okay, how much would I love one of these for my homeschool file system? I think I’m going to fwd this to Chris :-)

Great ideas and love that the labels are easy to peel off and reuse (something I’m going often w/ records for the kids) Thanks!

We dress the kids up and then head to a friend’s house so they can see the kiddos. Then it’s back to our neighborhood for a little trick or treating.

Every year I like to make a big pot of chili along with a side of cornbread! Its a great easy meal to have on hand after trick or treating! Plus, you’re not at the stove cooking when trick or treaters come to the door! :o )

We try to stay away from the yucky side of halloween and really enjoy friends, fall and the bounty of harvest time. We do have pumpkins and gords and apples around and like having special treats though.

Since I am not educated on Google Reader, as you probably are, I was curious when I received this particular posting on the “Hearthsong Halloween Goodies Giveaway” that at the bottom of your post (in Google Reader) there was a trailer of a horror movie (“My Soul to Take”)….a bit frightening, but I assume something you do not have control over. The blog feeds I receive do not normally contain this type of advertisement. This one just got my attention! Thanks.

My boys go trick-or-treating with their cousins. There is a total of 9 of them and they have so much fun seeing each others costumes and being with family.

  • Kelly

One of my favorite Halloween “traditions” from when I was younger was watching the Garfield Halloween cartoon every year. It’s not overly frightening, but the scene with the ghost pirates near the end is just spooky enough that I looked forward to the little fright each year and made it perfect for Halloween. I still like to watch it every year, and still find it a little spooky. My 2 year old is just starting to develop a bit of an attention span for short cartoons, particularly if I sit down and narrate them with him – so I’m hoping he’ll enjoy watching this (and some of the Christmas cartoons) with me this year. He’s already loving reading Halloween books this year!

This year is actually going to be interesting for us. Neither my husband nor I are that into Halloween but we have young kids that will be very interested in going trick or treating for the first time this year! Time to start some traditions I think! And I could use the decorations.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays – especially the gorey parts! zombies and witches, and ghouls and goblins! We don’t do too much on the scary end since the kids are so small ( 5 and 13 months), but we started decorating last night with the cob webs and cute little spider crafts. My favorite part is the joy on the kids faces when they’re all dressed up running around trick or treating!

We usually do not celebrate Halloween…rather we celebrate the Autumn season. However, this year, we are “trick or treating” at the local assisted living community that we volunteer at weekly.

We dress up & go trick-or-treating.

  • Eclairre

I dress up and hand out candies of course.

  • Stacey

I always dress up to hand out candy, being just a big kid myself. My four kids dress up and go trick or treating with dad while I hand out the candy at the house. We like to make a bunch of Halloween crafts and treats for the weeks leading up to Halloween, including one themed cupcake per week. Pumpkins, “bug” cupcakes, owl cupcakes, bat cupcakes, you name it. We also like to make our own decorations each year.
