What Plans Have You Made for Summer?

source: icelight

This may be one of our busiest summers yet, but so far it feels like the kind of busy that we actually enjoy — seeing friends and family, going places together, enjoying all that life has to offer. I’m trying to be mindful of where busy crosses the line into too busy, but I also want to make the most of the time we have together…it’s a fine line, no?

unorganized mess

source: Alan Levine

As we rung in the New Year on Friday night, millions of people made the same resolution: to “get organized”.

For some people, it’s a vague term for a state of being that they don’t quite understand. For others, it’s a desperate cry to finally get control of their lives. And for still others, there are just a few nagging areas that seem to be disorganized, cluttered or chaotic that they’d like to finally “get organized”.

Today I want to know…

Where do you struggle to get organized?

Is it with your time and priorities?

A specific room or area in your home?

A certain type of clutter, such as paper or memorabilia?

How are you going to tackle that area this year?

Looking forward to reading your answers!

Question of the Day: What Magazines Do You Read?

October 4, 2010

Although I’ve given up most of my paper books in favor of my Kindle, there’s something about magazines that I’m just not ready to let go of.  I love to flip through magazines, make notes and tear out pages to add to my tickler file for later reference.  It’s a different kind of browsing than [...]

July 15, 2010

The last few weeks have been full of planning next year’s school year. We homeschool, and we’re starting a new curriculum and coop, so I’ve been purchasing the things we need and planning out our daily schedule and goals. But the real fun started this week as drugstores and superstores have started marking down school [...]

As I’ve mentioned before, getting organized isn’t something you just do one time and then sit back and forget it. As you acquire new things, as your children grow and as your circumstances change, your systems will need to be revamped as well. If you’re anything like me, you may have an area you’re currently [...]

Although a lot of bloggers admit that they rarely have time to read other blogs because of the time running their own blogs takes, one of the things I love about maintaining my Tumblr account and Weekend Reading posts is that it forces me to make the time to read other people’s posts. I’ll be [...]

Question of the Day: Share Your Best Tips for Traveling with Children

May 20, 2010

Last week, I got an email from Andrea, who will be traveling to the U.S. from South America and then around the States in a Winnebago this summer….with four children under seven. She is looking for tips to help her get organized to make the trip go as smoothly as possible! I’d have to agree [...]

Question of the Day: What Do You Hold Onto?

Last week we talked about making space for the sentimental things in your life without contributing to the clutter. I told you about my grandfather’s Redskins glasses, and the truth is I’m fairly sentimental when it comes to anything that’s been passed down from my grandparents — an old blanket from my maternal grandmother, my [...]
