It’s no secret that I still love real magazines (which is funny considering I run an ezine…). Most of the time, though, mine end up sitting in a stack on the floor until I get around to reading them, and they end up looking messy and out of place!

If you share my love of magazines, here are 9 unique ways (some for sale and some DIY) to hold and display them:

What a great idea!! I struggle with photo taking because of the stress of what to do with the pictures, but this is an excellent way to organize them. Thank you! :)

Thank you for sharing that story. Even as I am sitting here writing this today is the 25th anniversary of my Daddy’s passing. It is great idea to organize your photos into categories and capture the good memories that we have of people. This definately is a project I need to work on. Again, thanks for sharing this story.

This is exactly it, why I take so many photos. My dad took a ton of photos and got me into it from a very young age. He always wanted to remember the many places we visited together, and the stories of our lives. I lost him suddenly when I was 22, and I am so grateful that I have so many photos of our years together, even of his life before I was born. So I became a photographer and barely a day goes by that I’m not capturing some sweet expression my growing children make. I love this idea of organizing by theme. Fortunately I’m not one of those that keeps my photos tucked away on my blog…my favorite thing are those instant Shutterfly books! Worth the money to be able to share the photos with my non-computer savvy grandparents.

This is a wonderful post. While reading this, I too am inclinded to organize my photos in a manner that will tell a story. My kids are young still (3 and 4) but I want to be able to rememeber the story behind the photo. Thank you so much for helping me to remember why we take pictures.

wow motivation! I have so many boxes of photos and negatives to sort through. Not only my own {from High School} but everything from my dad! He loved to take pictures but they all still sit in random boxes in the basement.

Why do I take photos? Because it’s part of who I am.

    Lovely story :)

I am 81 with early Alzheimer’s. Live alone now, wife of 49 yr gone but she took 1000′s pictures. At the time it drove me nut with photo expense. But you have made me realize the value of what I have. Now each is a golden prize. Without those pictures to bring back the happy memories, my life today would be almost blank. And you have set me to thinking about what to do with them. So I’m off with a new project and a great return to a wonderful past picture memory life. Very Greatfull.

Thank you so much for a moving and inspirational testimony. I feel overwhelmed with my boxes stuffed with envelopes of old photos and now, also a laptop full of photos with which I do nothing. Your blog has motivated me to get off my butt and has made me realize the importance and value of recording life through clustering and theming. I think I can get started…please contribute more stories. What a fascinating job!!!

      No magazines? GASP!

Seriously! Number 6 makes me want to take a trip to a thrift shop, and see if they have any throw away cribs that might have the rail in tact! GREAT idea!

I know — it’s pretty amazing and SO simple!
